Vintage KitchenAid Mixer in Avocado Green

Yes, I said it: Avocado. KitchenAid. Mixer. This old house with all the stories has room for a few more yet. When I arrived in the old kitchen, there was a strawberry-print tea cosy type cover, and underneath was a beautiful vintage piece in my favourite colour - avocado green.

The photo just doesn't do it justice! It is in pristine shape, and had the old Hobart tag on it as well. When we got back home, I learned from my mother in law that she purchased this in Boston in the late 70s. They lugged it over to Greece but it did not make the return trip home. Now that I am clear headed and not distracted by the beauty of Greece and all the wonderful things to do while on vacation, I can't believe I didn't pack it up and bring it home with me! Or at least take a few more pictures in better lighting conditions!

Sigh. Our suitcases were already stuffed to the max; in fact, we paid overweight luggage charges as is. Maybe on a next trip, this gem can be retrieved and put back to work!

  1. Forget baggage allowances! I would have left my husband in Greece and brought this home in his seat (I'm not joking)!

  2. Oh, how I keep wishing that I just picked up a tote bag and lugged it onto the plane! I do have my fingers crossed that someone in the family is planning an upcoming trip...

  3. Wow, that is super cool. Hobart! Did they used to make the KitchenAid mixer?? Hobart is serious professional! Say, can your relatives ship it over by slow freight? Like a three month sea journey?

  4. @Nancy, I think that Hobart sold off the residential KitchenAid mixer "department" sometime in the 80s. Fingers crossed, but I am not sure if freight or flight is the way to go...

  5. I have this exact same kitchen aid! I was trying to see how old it is. I've had it for at least 5 years. I still use it weekly.
